PS: This really was a very “full” MK Lesson. In paragraph #10, the statement about the Solar Plexus being the point at which the part meets the whole….at the end of that sentence is says …the Universal becomes individualized, the Invisible becomes Visible.” A person ruled by a Fear / Paralysis Reflex is often invisible to the world. So, the MK Lesson about the Solar Plexus is really important to bring to these people. Let your Light SHINE!
It’s been a week full of challenges. On Thanksgiving Monday, my husband and I both realized it was time to have our beautiful dog, Seamus, put to sleep. Wednesday was the day and my husband said Seamus demanded and received LOTS of liver treats to send him on his way – that, after having had cooked liver for breakfast! Through my tears, I’d asked for a sign that would show us that this was the right decision at the right time. Well, the vet said it was very good timing – that he would have gone down very quickly from there, as in addition to cancers he was showing neurological damage. So, that was sign #1.
We buried Seamus under his favourite Japanese Maple tree, piling big cream and rust coloured rocks from Alec’s trips with his client and our geologist friend. They’re the same colour as Seamus and they’ll guard him from the bears who are mighty hungry this Fall. We then went for a memorial walk down to Seamus’ favourite beach – Welcome Beach at Welcome Passage – and sign #2 appeared. For the first time since we moved to the Sunshine Coast of BC, 15 years ago, we saw a pod of 3 or 4 Humpback Whales feeding and breaching off shore. That night, we went out into the back yard and looked up at the stars to see if we could find a new star twinkling in the sky that was our Seamus. He had a good life – he’d have been 14 years old in 3 weeks. He taught us so much about Optimism, Enthusiasm and Unconditional Love.
I’m heading off to teach classes and see private clients up in Whitehorse, in the Yukon, for two weeks so I’m trusting I’ll see Seamus running along the Milky Way – with his former oh-so-elegant gait – or perhaps I’ll see him in the Northern Lights.
It’s late and I have to be up early – and I still have some trimming to do in terms of packing – so I’m going to keep this next part of my blog brief (friends would now be smiling ;-))
So, what did I “get” out of the Master Key Week 3 lesson this week?
I’m seeing that my Dharma is about Oneness and helping others overcome their Fear / Paralysis Reflex and that, while there are many ways to accomplish this, Oneness is my single focus. In this week’s MK Lesson, we were told of the interactioin between the Conscious Mind and the Subconscious Mind in terms of their relationship to their corresponding system of nerves. Conscious Mind’s organ is the Cerebro-Spinal system, while the Subconscious Mind’s organ is the Sympathetic Nervous System.
Haanel describes the brain as the centre for the Cerebro-Spinal nervous system – and explains that the Cerebro-Spinal system receives conscious perceptions from the physical senses and exercises control over the movements of the body. The Sympathetic Nervous System has a ganglionic mass at the back of the stomach and in front of the spine as its centre, aka the Solar Plexus. He explains that this is the channel of the mental action which UNconsciously supports our body’s vital functions.
Haanel goes on to say that it is the Solar Plexus that forms a connecting link between these two systems, thus making man physically a “single entity.” He calls the Solar Plexus the brain of the Subjective Mind and likens it to the “sun of the body.” The Solar Plexus is “the point at which the PART meets with the WHOLE, where the FINITE becomes INFINITE, where the UNCREATE becomes CREATE, the UNIVERSAL becomes INDIVIDUALIZED, the INVISIBLE becomes VISIBLE. [The caps are mine] Haanel continues, “It is the point at which life appears and there is no limit to the amount of life an individual may generate from this Solar centre.”
We are encouraged to “let our light shine” by thinking thoughts of courage, power, confidence and hope, which expands the Solar plexus and creates those conditions. When we allow fear to rule our world, the Solar Plexus contracts. Haanel says, “The world is harsh only as we fail to assert ourselves. The criticism of the world is bitter only to those who canot compel room for their ideas. It is fear of this criticism that causes many ideas to fail to see the light of day.”
Well, that’s been the story of my life, since my Fear/Paralysis Reflex re-emerged. And, of course, we’re to teach what we need to learn, right? The Master Key lesson 3 instructs us that a knowledge of our ability to consciously radiate health, strength and harmony will bring us into a realization that there is nothing to fear because we are in touch with Infinite Strength. And, in paragraph 26, we are told that “the subconscious mind is responsive to our conscious will, which means that the unlimited creative power of the Universal Mind is within control of the conscious mind of the individual.”
And most exciting of all, for me, is paragraph 28. “You are the channel by which the undifferentiated is being differentiated, and this differentiation is being accomplished by appropriation. It only requires recognition to set causes in motion which will bring about results in accordance with your desire, and this is accomplished because the Universal can act only through the individual, and the individual can act only through the Universal; they are one.” And that takes me full circle to the beginning of the MK Lesson part of this blog post, so I’ll stop and go pack 🙂 I’m trusting that there will be WIFI in both Whitehorse and Atlin…I’m definitely radiating positive thoughts on this front!
It’s now 2:36AM in BC, so it’s going to be a night short on sleep. Yet, I find that once I get stuck into the MKMMA exercises, it’s difficult to stop – I’m hungry for more insights and knowledge. As I fly to Whitehorse, in the morning, I’ll write my movie trailer version of my DMP. The DMP still needs work, yet I think it’s heading in the right direction now.
Mahalo’s to Lorelei Sunshine for all her sage advice and incredible intuition. And Mahalo’s to Mark and Davene for this programme that is allowing one very shy person (except when I sing and tell a story with my music) who was afraid of technology and who wondered how she could ever find Oneness within this community – as I’d only ever found it when singing the role of Princess of the Stars in a massive 8 day theatre piece in the wilderness of Ontario, just South of Algonquin Park. So, as I say, I’ve not found it in other communities online, mainly because of my techno challenges. I thought to myself, no one will want to “follow” my blog posts. I’ll feel so silly when everyone notices that no one is following my blog. That, my new found friends, is a Fear/Paralysis Reflex talking – that’s what my Old Blueprint would say. Now, I’m opening up that Solar Plexus and thrilling to the fact that Mark and Davene have actually built into the MKMMA system a way for each of us to be part of a Tribe, with our Guide and the other people their working with. You really have thought of everything, Mark and Davene. Mahalo from the bottom of my heart.
Of course, as soon as one presses the “publish” button, one begins to have new insights. As a singer who’s been in retirement from performance for a good 10 years, I’ve missed the constant delving into dictionaries in various languages in order to ensure that I got all the nuances of language and emotion correct. I’ve really loved pressing the dictionary icon on my iPad these last couple of weeks…and looking up my two PPNs (Autonomy and Liberty) as well as the word “Syllogism.” I definitely received insights there – and delighted in noticing the syllogism in paragraph 27 in the Master Key and linking it back to the 4th paragraph on page 10, The Master Key – Part Two. I had also been prompted by my PPN “Liberty” and James Allen’s quote about the Mind being the Master weaver to recall how much I’ve missed attending the meetings and spinning sessions of the Sunshine Coast Spinners & Weavers Guild over the last 5 years, which in turn sent me looking for quotes by Gandhi, who propounded that spinning would liberate India from British oppression and that if everyone was to spin for one hour a day there would be no wars. It’s akin to our daily “sitting” activity in MKMMA.
And, although I usually attempt not to listen to the news, 2 news items appeared on my radar this morning – a Tweet and an audio – about the deaths of two First Nations youth. One, a 19 year old girl, only days after being rolled out of the Foster Care system on her 19th birthday, committed suicide by jumping off the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver (similar to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco). The system had completely failed her, as trauma after trauma defined her life, and the provincial government will not do a review of her case because she had turned 19 and was no longer part of the system. The story of the young man in Thunder Bay was actually a story about a court case about the many youth who come from small Northern communities, where there are no high schools, and end up comitting suicide in the big cities where they’ve been attending high school. What are parents to do, when they want an education for their children, yet realize that, in sending their child to the big city, their children would face racism and bullying? The boy’s mother spoke of how her son had lost his self-esteem, his sense of who he really was.
So, here’s what I “got” in doing my morning reading, including the notes I’d made for myself on the backs of the pages of my MKs, AND from the Alliances tab on Insights and following some of our MKMMA members’ blogs.
SELF-ESTEEM, PEACE and ONENESS definitely speak to AUTONOMY and LIBERTY.
Master Key: Thought = Energy; Active Thought = Active Energy; Concentrated Thought is a Concentrated Energy. Thought concentrated on a DEFINITE PURPOSE becomes POWER. I had “got” that on Thursday, yet it’s the next part that leapt out at me this morning:
“This is the power which is being used by those who do NOT believe in the “virtue” of poverty, or the “beauty” of self-denial. They perceive that this is the talk of weaklings.” (caps and quotation markes mine)
And for me, that showed up in my life as lack of self-esteem and covering myself in cement so as not to be seen or heard…in order to be safe. As the “runt of the class” (and most 10 year olds are taller than I am even now), I was an easy target for physical and verbal bullying.
A couple of Gandhi quotes are so appropriate here:
1. “Nobody can hurt me without my permission” which is very akin to Eleanour Roosevelt’s “Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission.”
2. “A ‘No’ uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a ‘Yes’ merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.”
Society and/or circumstances teach us to be mindful of others and put them before ourselves.
Gandhi also wrote: “You yourself as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve love and affection.” Also,
“FREEDOM (remember Autonomy and Liberty are my PPNs) is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.”
And the syllogism in #27: If our Subby is part of the Universal Mind, and if a ‘part’ (us) must be the same in kind and quality as the ‘whole,’ then since the whole is creative, our mind is also creative. And, as Thought is the only activity which the mind possesses, Thought must necessarily be creative also.
How can anyone read that and allow themselves to stay in a place of lacking self-esteem?
And, again, from my travels through Gandhi quotations:
“Your Beliefs become your Thoughts
Your Thoughts become your Words
Your Words become your Actions
Your Actions become your Habits
Your Habits become your Values
Your Values become your Destiny”
Obviously, great thinkers and philosophers, when a thought’s time has come, will bring it forth in their own words!
After concerts, I’d always signed my autograph “Peace, Joy and Happiness Always, All Ways – Love, Wendy” so I still feel that’s part of my Dharma.
Gandhi’s definition of Happiness:
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
Gandhi suggests that “Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances.” I know there’s a quote in the Master Key or the GSW that’s almost identical to that but it’s illuding me just now.
Another piece to finding my Dharma came from the Conversations with God books and I was reminded of a powerful quotation on our purpose in life when reading someone else’s blog this morning. The quote that really stood out for me was that our purpose in life is to “be the grandest version of the greatest vision you ever had about Who You Really Are” and that this would change from moment to moment.
When we Really Know Who We Are – “part” of the “whole” and therefore “creative” and therefore in touch with “Omnipotence” – I believe it will be easier to find “peace from within” that is unaffected by the world without. So, again, how can one remain with low self-esteem if one believes this?
I now promise to make the following part of my MKMMA experience and my Dharma (more Gandhi quotes)
– My life is my message
– Be truthful, gentle and fearless
– Be congruent, be authentic, be your [my] true Self
– Where there is love, there is life
Years ago, I wrote a business mission statement of: “…helping you define and achieve your personal and professional performance goals so you can live a life of passion, power and inner peace.”
Now, I see this more as “…helping you discover Who You Really Are so you can live your authentic purpose as the grandest version of the greatest vision you ever had about yourself and so find Peace, Joy, and Love within and Oneness with your Self and the world without.”
Mahalo to all who helped me with these insights.
Wendy Humphreys Tebbutt
After training at the Royal Manchester College of Music in the UK, I became an orchestral harpist with the Vancouver and Edmonton Symphony Orchestras. After winning the Metropolitan Opera Auditions for Western Canada and the TriBach Vocal competition, I moved to Toronto to sing professionally as in opera, oratorio, solo recitals, and chamber music across Canada and on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
In 1992, I began a career as a specialized (energy) kinesiology instructor and practitioner. I helped my students and musical colleagues with their performance anxiety, as well such issues as physical pain and coordination, stroke, and memory / learning challenges..
I currently work with children with neurodevelopmental challenges (Autism Spectrum, ADD/ADHD, Sensory Processing & Developmental Delays, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia) as well as with adults and seniors dealing with neurodegenerative challenges (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, MS, Stroke and Acquired Brain Injury), using both movement based and kinesiology / muscle testing based programmes. I travel to teach classes and see private clients across Canada. I also work with clients via skype.
My reason for being in the MKMMA programme is to find my Dharma, my life’s purpose. I know it’s important to focus on one area of expertise, and I’ve found this to be very challenging in other programmes. I’ve used my kinesiology with my singing students in Toronto and have seen them progress from being terrified of auditions before our kinesiology session to being offered a small comprimario role and understudy to the leading lady with one of Canada’s largest and prestigious theatre companies; or feeling they have no stamina to get through a competition, and going on to win the competition.
I am continually fascinated by the field of brain – body integration and I’m on a mission to educate the world about the importance of Integrating Childhood Reflexes, as unintegrated reflexes can cause challenges throughout our lives. I love what I do – it’s my life’s work, not a job. I look forward to having everything sort itself out over the course of this wonderful MKMMA programme.
This week’s Master Key compares and contrasts the functions of the Conscious and Subconscious Minds and how the Conscious Mind can influence the Subconscious Mind to create or manifest our heart’s desire. It is important to understand that Thought = Energy; Active Thought = Active Energy; Concentrated Thought = Concentrated Energy; and Thought, when concentrated on a DEFINITE PURPOSE, becomes POWER. This power, or Infinite Energy, is ready at any and every moment to manifest a person’s heart’s desire…all in proportion to the person’s recognition of this truth…this true Law of Attraction.
The Conscious Mind, or Objective Mind, is the seat of our WILL, including all energies and responsibilities that flow from this – that is, CHOICE! We can move “at will” and we can use our five senses to choose how we respond to the environment around us. The Subconscious Mind, or Subjective Mind, is the seat of HABIT. One person describes these two phases of mind as “Conscious mind is reasoning will. Subconscious mind is instinctive desire, the result of past reasoning will.”
On a physical level, the Subconscious Mind has to do with the instinct to preserve life; improve health; and nurture offspring – all via the rhythmic, vital processes of the body and its organs. On the mental level, the Subconscious Mind is the storehouse of memory and is the fountain of practical initiative…the seat of HABIT. Spiritually, the Subconscious Mind is the source of our ideals, aspirations, and imagination. It is the channel through which we recognize the Divince Source – and it is in proportion to our ability to recognize this Divine Source that we come to understand the source of POWER.
The Conscious Mind has been called the “Guardian of the Gate” to the Subconscious. It should be on guard during every waking minute, as the Subconscious Mind accepts all information as truth and the Subby never sleeps.
I sometimes hear my harp students saying things like, “Oh, I can never get that part – I’m so stupid – I get it wrong every time!” My response is always “Right! And, the mind believes everything you say. It will also accept each ‘variation’ in the way you play a phrase as ‘acceptable,’ whether you place your fingers on the strings appropriately or you simply fling your fingers at the strings. The choice is yours.”
Haanel points out that there IS a remedy to changing any erroneous information…and that is to recognize the omnipotence of the Subconscious Mind and suggest present actual freedom. The Subconscious Mind, being creative and at one with our Divine Source, will immediately create the freedom suggested.
The Subconscious Mind is part of the Universal Mind and since the whole is creative, so must the mind and thought be creative. And yet, only if our thought is conscious, systematic and constructive will our mind be in harmony with the Universal Mind and in tune with the Infinite, thereby allowing the Law of Attraction to manifest in the world without.
James Allen wrote that, “Cause and effect is as absolute and undeviating in the hidden realm of thought as in the world of visible and material things. Mind is the master weaver, both of the interior garment of character and the out garment of circumstance.” I’ve really enjoyed to references to music and also to weaving this week, for in addition to being a harpist and also a singer, I have become a spinner and a weaver since moving to the Sunshine Coast of BC.
I compare James Allen’s statement to the 3rd sentence in chapter 9 of the GSW, “…only the unseen power of love can open the hearts of men…” and later he goes on to say, “In silence and to myself I will address [each whom I meet] and say I Love You. Though spoken in silence these words will shine in my eyes, unwrinkle my brow, bring a smile to my lips, and echo in my voice; and his heart will be opened.”
So, I too will say, “I will greet this day with love, and I will succeed.” My two Personal Pivotal Needs, when chosen following your directions were AUTONOMY and LIBERTY. I’d already muscle tested and found 2 different PPN’s, but since I’d made a pact with myself to follow your directions without question, I went with Autonomy and Liberty. I confess that I was relieved when Mark said to relax, because in working with these 2 PPN’s the others would be covered automatically. That really helped. Mahalo, Mark 🙂
I went and looked up both of these words and that has given me some important insights into something that’s been going on in my life this year. It really is about shedding the cement. It’s a journey and I’m seeing glimpses of what’s up ahead. I found a great quote by Mae Jemison, the 1st female African-American astronaught: “Never limit yourself because of others’ limited imagination; never limit others because of your own limited imagination.” Mahalo Mae Jemison and Mahalo Mark, Davene, my guide Lorelei and all the staff at MKMMA for changing people’s lives. Wendy
Well, this is the first time I’ve ever blogged, other than saying hello and thank you to Mark and Davene when setting up this WordPress blog site. This has definitely been an exercise with a few Dragons lurking in the background 🙂 I do believe I’ll be amending my blog site; however, for now, I’ll simply jump in with some of the topics suggested by Mark.
My Fears/Dragons would definitely have to do with the technology side of things. And normally I’d be pretty stressed out by now. Yet, the readings and the “sittings” have already begun to work their magic, so thank you so much, Mark and Davene, for this beautifully structured this programme. 35 years ago, I read the GSW and T&GR and other books. I learned to meditate. How could I have gotten off track? I know, it’s a journey 🙂 I truly appreciate your reminders about relaxing, and to simply go with the flow, so that by next week things will feel easier and more familiar. I’m definitely a recovering perfectionist and I’ve promised myself that I CAN go with the flow, as I can always amend or edit my writings or my blog site later. And I ALWAYS keep my promises.
My HOPE for this programme is that I can finally hone in on my Definite Major Purpose. Like “Betty,” I have many options and narrowing down my “niche/purpose” has been a challenge in the past.
Writing my DMP was originally met with my old blueprint. However, the reassurances given by everyone on the videos allowed me to simply put down some bullet points a few days ago, so that creating my DMP this evening was not as Dragonish as I’d thought it would be – much to my delight. I can already feel changes in how I’m responding to the world – yes, responding rather than reacting. I completed my “7 Day Mental Diet” on Sunday the 27th and I think it’s been responsible for a big shift in my “inner noticing/awareness” of what’s happening in the “world without.” Thank you for recommending that we do the 7 Day Mental Diet. I can feel the difference in my body, both last week and this week, as I release any immediate response to something negative that’s happening in the world without. I recall seeing/hearing some reference to an activity during one week of the programme being to relax your body. I’m very thrilled to be noticing these shifts in myself. Thank you.
Some of the similarities I see between the teachings of the Master Keys and those in the Greatest Salesman in the World (GSW) are:
– in GSW, Scroll 1, experience is compared to principles and experience is definitely found wanting and “only principles endure and these I now possess, for the laws that will lead me to greatness are contained in the words of these scrolls.”
– in the MKeys, several keys stand out for me: #4 – …we must “be” before we can “do,” and we can “do” only to the extent which we “are,” and what we “are” depends upon what we “think.” #11- Harmony in the world within results in optimism and affluence; affluence within results in affluence without. #16 – Life is an unfoldment, not accretion (growing by having something added to the original). What comes to us in the world without is what we already possess in the world within.
Because my “work” has to do with brain / body / childhood reflex integration, I particularly appreciate all the references to the brain, the mind, etc. And, while I recognize that this programme requires a lot of time and diligence on my part, it is exactly what I need right now and I feel like I’ve “come home.”
Hi Mark & Davene,
I’m trusting my application for the 2015 MKMMA program will be accepted. Greetings and Best Wishes to all who make it.
